Summary

Aircraft maintenance technicians are responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing the components of aircraft. There are three main specialisations (avionics, mechanical, structures) focusing on different components of an aircraft. They may focus on a specific section of the aircraft, or on one particular maintenance process. They conduct pre-flight checks and more detailed inspections of aircraft systems to detect and diagnose defective equipment in order to prevent malfunction.

To become an aircraft maintenance technician, you usually need to complete an apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance.

Low end – $75,000
High end – $130,000
